Innovation Readiness Assessment

Measure Innovation Readiness in Every Department

An organization-wide diagnostic of how ideas move from proposal to implementation. Staff across every department assess process, people, projects and performance, and leadership receives a department-by-department view of where work stalls, with a prioritized 30- and 90-day action plan.

When an Assessment Helps

An assessment is a practical first step when:

01

Ideas are raised but not followed through.

02

Leaders support innovation but disagree on priorities.

03

Pilots succeed but are not scaled.

04

Innovation depends on a small group of people.

05

Departments work in isolation.

06

Leadership asks for evidence of a return on innovation (ROI).

How to Measure Innovation in an Organization

Innovation is measured through the conditions that move ideas to implementation, as reported by the people who do the work. The assessment covers four areas.

9 questions

Process

The structures, tools and ways of working that move ideas into execution.

7 questions

People

Capabilities, skills and confidence across teams.

5 questions

Projects

How ideas flow, are prioritized and move into execution.

9 questions

Performance

How innovation connects to future focus, value and results.

See the Assessment in One Minute

A short overview of how the assessment runs: staff in every department take part, completion is tracked by department as responses come in, and leadership receives scores for process, people, projects and performance with a report of actions.

Four Stages of Innovation Readiness

The four stages work as an innovation maturity model: each department and the organization as a whole are placed on one of them.

01

Random Innovation

Staff are unclear on the direction and on how to take part.

02

Reactive Innovation

Innovation happens in isolated projects that follow traditional processes.

03

Structured Innovation

Tools and processes are in place, and decisions remain largely top-down.

04

Organizational Innovation

Staff are empowered to think creatively and improve continuously.

Start With a Free Individual Snapshot

The free Innovation Readiness Snapshot gives one personтАЩs view of the same four areas in about five minutes, with a private summary of your results at the end. It is a useful first look before assessing the whole organization.

How It Works

1

Planning call

Agree the scope (the whole organization, selected departments or one team) and the timing.

2

Staff take the assessment

By link or QR code: 30 questions with optional comments, 15 to 30 minutes each.

3

Results are combined

Responses are combined into your report and online view.

4

After the Assessment

Most organizations take one or more of these steps, depending on their results.

Strategic Blueprint

A working session that turns the results into agreed priorities for the next 30 to 90 days: what to start, stop and scale.

Innovation Process Certification

A two-day workshop that gives teams one shared method for moving ideas to implementation, leading to the Unbounded Thinking Innovation Process Certification.

KWOKKA by UBTтДв Platform

Software to manage ideas, projects and repeat assessments in one place.

Repeat Assessment

Run the assessment again after 6 to 12 months to compare results and confirm where readiness has improved.

Assessment Questions

How do you measure innovation in a company?

Measure the conditions that move ideas to implementation, not only the number of ideas. Our assessment asks staff in every department 30 questions on process, people, projects and performance, then reports each departmentтАЩs stage of innovation readiness and the actions that will make the most difference.

What is an innovation readiness assessment?

It measures how ready an organization is to turn ideas into results, in the way an innovation maturity assessment places an organization on a scale. Ours uses four stages, from Random Innovation, where staff are unclear how to take part, to Organizational Innovation, where improvement is part of everyday work.

How do you measure innovation capability?

Measure the conditions that let a team turn ideas into results: its processes and tools, the skills and confidence of its people, how ideas are prioritized and moved forward, and how innovation connects to results. The assessment reports a stage for each of these four areas and for each department, from the answers of the staff who do the work.

What are the barriers to innovation in organizations?

Common barriers include ideas that are raised but not followed through, leaders who support innovation but disagree on priorities, pilots that are not scaled, innovation that depends on a small group of people, and departments that work in isolation. The assessment shows where work stalls in each department and which actions to take first.

Who takes the assessment, and how long does it take?

Staff at every level in the departments you choose. Each person answers 30 questions, with optional comments, in 15 to 30 minutes, by link or QR code.

Are responses confidential?

Yes. Your organization sees combined results only, never names or individual answers, and results for any group appear only once at least five people have responded.

What does the report show?

Your overall stage and the stage for each area, a heatmap of every question by department, staff comments, immediate actions for the next 30 days and required actions for the next 90 days, online and as a PDF for leadership.

How is it different from the free Snapshot?

The free Innovation Readiness Snapshot is one personтАЩs view: about five minutes and an individual summary. The assessment combines the views of staff across the organization and adds department comparisons, staff comments and a 30- and 90-day action plan.

How is it priced?

Pricing depends on the number of participants and departments. We send a proposal after a short planning call.

How often should we repeat it?

Every 6 to 12 months. Each new report compares the results with the previous assessment, so you can see where readiness is improving and where gaps remain.
